Since Facebook has become such a popular and dominant social networking website, it has almost become the single most essential place to advertise your business and attract attention. However, it’s no easy task to get your Facebook posts seen, and many people have difficulty promoting their page after creating it.

Tips to Increase Followers for Your Facebook Page and Your Brand

Tip #1 – Ask Friends to Like Your Page

You can ask people you know to like your page on Facebook. This is a free opportunity to promote your page. Their likes will appear in the news feeds of their friends, leading their friends to like the page as well. However, do not be overly pushy, and provide a positive reason why they should like your page.

Your goal here is to gather numbers and get more eyeballs on your page, but keep in mind that over time you don’t just want friends and family to participate. You want prospective leads and customers in your space.

Tip #2 – Update Your Facebook Page Consistently

If you do not post frequently, obviously, people won’t like your page. You have to create a routine where you are consistently sharing quality posts.

Try to post at least once a day to keep people interested in your page. Despite what you may have heard, your formula for success on Facebook may differ from the next guy, so pay attention to your frequency.

If you post too much, you’ll notice people leaving. If you don’t post enough, your followers won’t grow. Just experiment and watch your Facebook Insights for clues on how much and how frequent is enough.

Tip #3 – Share Four Facebook Link in Other Media

You can include your Facebook link on your website, on your Twitter account, your email signature, and your business cards. Add a Facebook Like Box to the homepage of your website. When people see the faces of others who like your page, this serves as a basic form of “social proof” – almost like a testimonial.

Email your customers and subscribers, letting them know you have created a Facebook page. And remember to ask them to like it!

Tip #4 – Post Interesting, Relevant Content

To keep people interested in your page, you should post interesting content. High quality, well-thought-out content creates a good impression and keeps your audience connected. Your posts should be entertaining or educational and encourage others to comment or like.

Try posting eye-catching pictures from time to time, use great video, and remember to ask questions for people to respond to. You can also try posting polls that encourage your fans to vote and engage.

Create events on your Facebook page and invite people to join them. Share exclusive information only found on your Facebook page.

These tactics will encourage others to look forward to your posts and spread the word.

Tip #5 – Host Contests

Give away prizes such as products or services from your company on a weekly or monthly basis, such as a coupon or an e-book. Your prize doesn’t have to be super expensive.

When you determine the prize value, remember to set a goal. For example, if you have 723 likes, you can promise the 800th person to like your page a prize, or a special shout-out.

Just keep in mind that Facebook does have specific rules about contests. You’ll want to familiarize yourself with these in order to avoid being penalized.

Tip #6 – Advertise on Facebook

If you are willing to invest money strategically in your Facebook page, you can buy Facebook advertisements that help promote your page to more people.

Facebook ads allow you to target a very specific demographic that would be interested in your business. And since Facebook has collected massive amounts of information, you can use that to your marketing advantage by learning how to create custom audiences.

The basics of advertising include writing an interesting description, including a picture/video, deciding on a budget, and then launching your ad. Some services like Mailchimp now make this process very streamlined, so you don’t feel overwhelmed.

You can always start small with post “boosts” focused on content that has already begun to attract some attention. Then make the decision to learn more advanced techniques as you have small successes and reach your goals.

Tip # 7 – Be Patient

Don’t give up when you realize you’re not an overnight success on Facebook! With time, patience, and dedication your Facebook page will grow followers.

Just keep in mind that consistency, authenticity, and high quality content are keys to your success. If you commit to following these tips, you will gradually get more exposure for your brand on Facebook.
