The First Annual DFW Rocks Digital Media Conference 2012
This is the one that started it all! The name would later be updated to Rocks Digital, but 2012 was the year that Lissa Duty decided that Social Media Day deserved a full conference. Others would follow, but Lissa Duty and Rocks Digital paved the way. Let’s look back at some of the highlights from the inaugural conference.
Attendees included small business owners, entrepreneurs and other professionals seeking to learn more about expanding their business reach through social media. The event took place in Dallas at none other than The Social House. In fact, DFW Rocks took over the entire restaurant venue. With every available seat occupied, 117 people huddled together to learn tips and tricks on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and much more.

2012 Social Media Day Celebration Conference Line-Up
After Lissa Duty welcomed everyone, the day got off to a great start with Keynote Speaker Andrea Vahl of the Grandma Mary Show sharing her tips on Facebook Marketing for Pages. This was followed by a morning break and attendee networking opportunity before two more sessions began.
- ROCK Your Twitter: Tweet like a Pro | Lissa Duty
- YouTube Video for the DIY | Robin Moss
A buffet style lunch and more networking was followed by three more ROCKin’ good sessions.
- Six-Figure Follow-Up: Connections to Clients | Patty Farmer
- The Power of Being LinkedIn | J.R. Adkins
- Your Business Interest in Pinterest | Fred Campos
A quick break allowed attendees to digest and discuss the prior sessions as they networked with each other and then, once refreshed, they went back for more!

- Social Media Pros Question & Answer Panel | Giovanni Gallucci, Neil Lemons & Mike D. Merrill
By the time the conference wrap-up started, the attendees were buzzing about how they were going to put their new knowledge to work in their own businesses. New friendships were formed and businesses connected to create partnerships to strengthen one another.
Social Media Day After-Party
The Rocks Talks are a conference favorite each year, so to mix it up, this year we’re doing ALL Rocks Talks, ALL day. This means you’ll walk away with the chance to have learned from 18 digital marketing authorities on a range of topics focused around SEO, Local Search, Web Design, Content, Social Media and much more.
Each presenter will have exactly 15 minutes to share 3 to 5 key points. We’ll have a 5-minute pause in-between each speaker for you to stretch your legs while the next presenter gets ready.
The conference will be held 100% live. Each session will also be recorded, so if you miss a few minutes or an entire session, you’ll have access to the recording later.
