Achieving the best possible ranking in Google search results and other search engines isn’t easy. It’s something you have to work at, quite literally, every day.
The thing is, Google is always changing their algorithm and, what worked for you yesterday might not work today. You must being willing to constantly work at your ranking and consistently work on your SEO strategy.
Ready to Dominate Google Search Results? Let’s Get Started
1. Setup and Use Google Analytics
If you haven’t already done so, add the Google Analytics code onto your website. This will track information related to your website including page views, click through and daily site traffic. Other information you can see in Google Analytics includes organic site traffic, referral traffic from other websites, browsing information, which includes desktop vs mobile site traffic, user trends and geographic and demographic data on your website visitors.
Once you have the Google Analytics code set up on your website, check your stats at least once weekly and more if possible. This way you can immediately see the effects of any changes you’ve implemented, plus notice any downward trends in site visits. You’ll want to identify and take care of issues right away before they cause long-term damage, which will cost you profits and popularity.
2. Drop a Few Links
Setup a time each day, if possible, to go out on the web and find a resource you can link back to your website. Whether you’re submitting your business to a directory website, offering a helpful link after reading a third party blog post, publishing on social media or anything in between, getting high quality link backs will increase your ranking in search engines, which also helps to increase your domain authority. Anything positive you do to build up your online reputation and credibility on the web is going to pay off in search results. Even if all you can manage is one link back a week, something is always better than nothing.
3. Do Your Homework
You can’t stay on top of the search engine rankings if you don’t know what’s going on with the search engines. With this in mind, take a few minutes each day to keep yourself informed. Visit major social media news sites, blogs and follow the influencers. Be sure to scroll through the headlines to see if there’s anything pertinent you need to catch up on. Some of the best websites to visit for SEO related news include:
4. Check Out Your Competitors
Finally, you can’t stay ahead of the competition if you don’t know what they’re doing. Keep a list of a few of your main competitors and check things like their website, blog, reviews and social media on a regular basis. Make sure you are doing equally as much in your online activities as your competition and, if you notice things they are doing wrong, make sure you are not making those same mistakes.
These are four easy steps you can do daily or weekly that will help you to continue outrank your competitors. Are you ready? Get started today.
So, those are some of my tips, but what are some other things you do daily to stay ahead?
