Selfies and Self-Esteem: Using Social to Reach Your Goals

Does social media have more potential to build our self-esteem or to tear it down? Do you use it to set your goals and reach your goals? Or are you discouraged by what you see from others?

We are all tired of selfie stars trying to “break the internet” with their latest attempt at self-worship and socially-engineered fame. So do yourself a favor and block it from your digital and mental feeds. Social media should be your friend, not an enemy to your self-esteem, your personal brand image.

Socially Emotional: Social Experiments in Social Media?

In my opinion, Facebook and other social networks have played with our collective emotions, using algorithms to elicit certain responses to see if they can guide the world into certain thoughts. Now, we all have a chance to change this experiment, and chew holes in the walls of this ever-expanding maze to get to our cheese without getting trapped in the process. We’ve all got a personal brand to build, and our physical transformation is part of that.

Use your selfies to help others live better through inspiration and education, rather than titillation. If you are making improvements in your life, let others come alongside you digitally on the journey! Join online groups that support your goals; make these people and groups the ones you follow and share on a daily basis.

This is where we can change the maze. Instead of thinking less of yourself and  taking a hit to your self-esteem because of others flaunting a potentially fake reality in your face, use social media as a tool for living a better life. Find industry experts and information centers related to your goal to fuel your transformation into the person you want to see in the mirror every day.

Social Media Communities: Motivation for Transformation

Social media then becomes the secret to physically transforming your personal brand as many experts fill their pages with their best information. Go all the way in to reach your goals and use the community resources wisely. Who knows? The best support you may ever know could come from halfway around the world, as you find the right groups of people to help you through the obstacles life throws at you from time to time. This is especially true when you decide to chase after a serious goal.

Your selfies and self-esteem are tied together and the only way to keep yourself real and authentic is to live your digital social life as a reflection of the offline one you walk in every day. Learn from the mistakes and misuse by others so that you won’t have unwanted, unflattering pictures floating around with the potential to damage your reputation. It’s time that we think differently about the power of our own transformations and how it benefits others.

Selfies can be great motivators, and even better measures of success, when improving your life and letting the world be a part of it. Be the minority that uses the selfie motivation to be a positive influence in the lives of others. It is possible to “show off” good results, as you reach your goals, without being a “showoff.”

Self-Esteem via Birds of a Feather

Move yourself into better online groups for success in all aspects of life. Social media is a tool that can be used to either beat you down or build you up. Choose to connect with people who will help support the life you really want to live. This gives you a virtual flock to fly with every moment of the day. This can be the ultimate secret to your success in health, relationships or business!

Whether you know it or not, your timelines feed your mind with what is continually shown. Eat well, physically and digitally, and learn to do the former from a community of experts; their resources and systems all easily accessible at the touch of a button. This feeds your health and starves out disease, protecting your wealth.

I’ll leave you with one final thought to improve your health, and strengthen the physical part of your personal brand strategy, as the fall begins:

 Learn how to improve, get up and move and eat only the best. Do all three, as needed, and make sure to get some much-needed vacation time and rest, too.
